My Verse

~Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint~ Isa 40:31

Sharif

Sharif
Brooke's new job: to learn Patience

Things I'm Learning About Horses:

  • Horses are, by nature, lazy. You reward them for a job well done by leaving them alone and feeding them. Not so different from humans, huh?
  • They are prey animals and scared of everything.
  • Just like people and dogs, noone wants to be at the bottom of the herd hierarchy.
  • To teach a colt to not turn his rump around and kick me, I had to swat him in the rump and tell him "shhh" loudly.
  • Colts do NOT like to be swatted in the rump!
  • Everything you teach a horse has to be taught twice-once on his right side and once on the left side.
  • Sharif is considered a weanling because he is under two and weaned.
  • Arabians can be hot-tempered and stubborn.
  • I can't make him do ANYTHING he doesn't first decide to do himself.
  • If you need to learn patience, train an Arabian colt!
